Are you interested in maximizing the energy efficiency potential of your facility but unsure about basic energy concepts and how they impact savings? The Arizona Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) is offering this class on August 5, 2025. This initial training explores the fundamentals of energy, the utility's role in distributing electricity, building energy systems and more.

Attendees of this full-day training will:

  • Understand the fundamentals of energy and power
  • Discuss a utility's role in electricity, from generation and transmission and distribution to the end use of electrical energy
  • Explore the basics of building energy systems and how they consume electricity
  • Review energy efficiency concepts and how they relate to building systems
  • Use energy efficiency concepts to calculate energy savings of a basic systems project
  • Understand the relationship between energy savings and project economics

Whether you are an industry professional looking to expand your knowledge or are seeking continued educational opportunities this class is for you. This class is a great prerequisite to the CEM classes and test that will be offered in the fall of 2025. All are welcome!

Meet your Instructors

Wayne Dobberpuhl P.E. C.E.M.Wayne Dobberpuhl is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Arizona and a Certified Energy Manager with over 45 years of program management, energy engineering, design engineering, and energy sales/marketing experience. Wayne currently is the CEO Nexus Integrated Solutions, providing energy consulting services to Commercial, Industrial, Utility, Government and Agricultural organizations. Wayne also managed the APS Solutions for Business energy efficiency program that achieved over $2.4 Billion of energy savings over the lifetime of the installed energy efficiency measures for APS commercial and industrial customers. Wayne is a board member and past president of the Arizona chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers (AZAEE).

Bryan Patrick C.E.M.Bryan Patrick - Certified Energy Manager, CEM, with over 45 years of experience in the Energy Industry, managing and training highly skilled groups and managing large staff within Generation facilities and Distribution systems for a major Arizona Utility, (APS). Bryan currently is a Partner and COO at Nexus Integrated Solutions, providing energy consulting services to Commercial, Industrial, Utility, Government and Agricultural organizations. Bryan also managed the APS Disaster Recovery Program and Emergency Event Management Program. Bryan has worked in Energy Fields including Electric and Natural Gas
