About Fix the Fire Damage:
Living up to its subtitle—Your go-to guide when pain first strikes—the tools in this book will show you what to do right away for relief when you feel immobilized and afraid to move.
Volume 2 of The Everyday Pain Guide is for those moments in the middle of the night, on weekends or holidays, or any time when you can’t get in to see your providers. Perhaps you wake with a stiff neck, throw your back out after a long flight, or maybe freeze up completely after simply reaching for something.
When pain makes it seem impossible to do anything at all, Fix the Fire Damage is the guide that lays out pivotal, gentle, and easy-to-follow Action Plans while walking you through the different stages of healing, starting with the very earliest. That first sign of pain is your best opportunity to swiftly transform the trajectory of each episode and decrease your suffering.
With over 100 photos, illustrations, and diagrams in an easily searchable format, the reader is guided through smart ways to address the three different types of pain triggers: body mechanics, body chemistry, and stress biology.
Ya-Ling J. Liou is an evidence-based chiropractic physician with more than three decades of clinical experience. The Everyday Pain Guide series distills not just a vast body of knowledge but also her collective experience as an adjunct faculty member at Bastyr University and, prior to that, while instructing massage therapy students in anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology. Dr. Liou now lives, works, and writes in Seattle.

My very special guest!
I'd like to warmly welcome Richelle Ricard as she graciously joins me all the way from Portland for our Celebration of Wellness this Summer, by leading 3 free mini yoga sessions to highlight the insights from her book The Yoga Engineer's Manual. You can now also secure a copy of The Yoga Engineer's Manual as well as Fix the Fire Damage as you reserve your free tickets for the event.
Please stay tuned for the agenda which will be posted here as soon as we finalize details on all the planned activities for that day. (If you plan to join a yoga session, please bring your own mat in case there aren't enough to go around.)
About The Yoga Engineer’s Manual
An innovative yoga manual for teachers, trainers, and advanced students—craft a safer, more effective yoga practice informed by anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics.
Supplemented with more than 100 illustrations and photos, The Yoga Engineer’s Manual makes yoga anatomy simple, clear, and accessible. With tips, tools, and practical advice for on-the-mat applications, this essential resource is written for yoga teachers and practitioners of all traditions. It offers a step-by-step, layer-by-layer examination of the connection between our physical and energetic bodies, their activation through finding one’s best personal alignment, and methods for utilizing asana practice to explore the deeper nature of the Self.
Richelle has worked with bodies for over 30 years. Her unique perspective on pain, posture and movement comes from her eclectic working experience in all of the following: sports medicine, clinical massage, yoga and movement therapy, energetic bodywork, rehabilitation medicine and education. When she's not teaching somewhere around the world, sharing the wisdom of the physical body with yoga teachers and students, you can find her in Portland, OR, offering bodywork sessions and leading weekly yoga classes and workshops.
